The good news is that a 3 year bond typically costs you $15 per $1000 of Bond plus a few fees. My $6000 bond cost me only $125. That was a relief.

Hi people

I have been planning on buying my next bike to make into a bobber (possibly chopper for the future) and have been having a hard time deciding on what to use..

I really like the look of Suzuki Intruders (800 or 1400 is good), it seems you can do a lot with them and pretty easy and cheap to get parts to get it to the right vision.

I guess my first question is to anyone out there that can tell me there view on if this is a good bike option?

The kind of look i want eventually is this

http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o288/...ago017.jpg

or the springer seat style but does this take a lot of chopping of the frame where the old seat use to be? -

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_yAA6jF90puk/Sk...obber1.jpg

I guess im basicaly looking for a good bike to learn about making a decent bobber..

Thanks for any advice!

Attached is a picture of what I am starting with. I will probably start a thread in a different section for the build but I wanted to introduce myself first. The first issue I have is the wiring as the previous owner ripped everything apart I have wires everywhere. I found a good diagram that I can use to figure anything out.
Does anyone know about setting up mig welders? Mine is having feed issues. In regular intervals, about every 60 degrees or so, the feed wheel seems to slip. If I run it no tension on the reel, either by taking off retaining nut or taking out the tension spring, it feeds fine. It's a 110v Chicago Electric welder that I picked up from Harbor Freight so I know the quality isn't great and that picking up parts for it may be an issue. I think the issue is either the tension wheel or feed wheel are not perfectly round allowing it to slip. But like I said, picking parts is going to be an issue. So my questions are 1) am I right in thinking one of the wheels are the reason, and 2) would it be fine to just take out the tension spring on the reel and run just the retaining nut so the reel doesn't fall off? Thanks in advance.

I seem to be having issues with posting pics. I was able to post my avatar pic, but that was it. It tells me to re-size pics because they are to big. I have no idea how to do this. I'm using a Droid Thunderbolt smart phone. I don't think it or me is too smart.. LOL!

im shure most riders know this but i bet there is a few that dont. after soo many miles your spark plugs will eventually foul out. if you take the plug out and clamp it in some vise grips (on the end the boot snaps on) and burn the firing end with a small tourch then brush it off with a wire brush (not a brass brush) and reset your gap and let the plug cool you can get more life out of the plug. this works on anything that uses a sparkplug and will save you alot of money in the long run. just a tip from a vetren rider.
